Seagulls draw with Wrexham

COLWYN BAY maintained their encouraging pre-season form with a 1-1 draw with a young Wrexham side on Saturday, but have suffered a blow with the loss of recent signing Danny Ryan.
The left-side player who lives in Huddersfield has found the travelling too much.
"It took him three and half hours to get home last week and that made up his mind to go. I'm sorry to lose him, but we have a strong squad now," said manager Gary Finley.
The manager was again pleased with the fitness of his side who finished strongly on a wet and slippery surface against Wrexham's full-timers and were only denied victory by a fine save from Llandudno-born keeper Chris Maxwell to turn Darren Wright's shot round the post.
Mark Quayle gave Colwyn Bay a 70th minute lead with a cooly-taken chip over the keeper, but Wrexham, equalised five minutes later through Paul Williams.
The 16-year-old Maxwell, who travels to Northern Ireland with the Wales squad for next week's Milk Cup international youth tournament, made a good save from trialist midfielder John Walker, while Anthony Murt, who again impressed in attack, Quayle, Paul Williams and Colin Roberts all went close for a Bay side who were without four players - John Boardman, Neil Black, Jamie Olsen and Kyle Armstrong - through holidays, injury and illness.
There will be a full report on the game in this week's Weekly News.
