Colwyn Bay draw with Belper

TWO goals from Anthony Wright weren't enough to give Colwyn Bay the win on Thursday night that would have kept them still in with a mathematical chance of the play-offs going into Saturday's final game.
They led 2-1 against Belper Town, but conceded an equaliser 11 minutes from the end in a 2-2 draw which has finally ended their challenge.
Belper took the lead after only seven minutes when Ross Hannah ran on to a long ball over the top of the Colwyn Bay defence to chip over the advancing Jamie Speare.
Only a point blank save by Speare prevented Andy Rushbury heading a second as Belper had the better of the opeing half hour.
Belper keeper Paul Pettigrew made a good save to deny Mark Quayle, but Colwyn Bay did get level on 39 minutes when Anthony Wright was put clear on the left to score with an angled shot across the keeper into the far corner of the net.
Two minutes into the second half Wright was played in by Joe Fowler to sidestep the keeper and score his second, but Belper put the home side under sustained pressure after that and equalised on 79 minutes when a deflected shot from Rushbury looped over Speare into the net.
Belper, after having two goals disallowed for offside, almost snatched victory in added time when Lee Stevenson hit the bar from a free kick.
