Meadowcroft joins Bay squad

By Tim Channon on Feb 5, 10 01:23 PM

COLWYN BAY have finally completed the on-off loan deal with Northwich Victoria and secured experienced centre back Danny Meadowcroft for the next six weeks.
He goes straight into the 17-man squad for Saturday's away game at Bamber Bridge (Feb 6).
The former Stockport, Morecambe and Halifax stopper is coming back after injury, but manager Neil Young said: "He is a fit lad and is looking forward to his spell with us."
The manager is also hoping to extend the loan period of Crewe Alexandra's young striker Alex Titchiner, whose initial one month spell expires after Saturday's game.
Greg Stones, signed from Rhyl last weekend, will also make his league debut today and is likely to continue the attacking midfield role he played in the midweek friendly against Llandudno which Colwyn Bay won 4-0.
"With Greg in the team we can get back to where we were when we had Adriano Rigoglioso and were starting to play some of our best football of the season prior to him joining FC United," said the manager.
"We used the Llandudno game to return to that style and Greg did well in a game in which we played some excellent football. Hopefully we can carry that on at Bamber Bridge.
"I watched them beat Chorley on Tuesday and they are a very hard-working side who will be keen to turn us over. We need to be aware of that, but if we play the way we can then I would expect to us win."
Goalkeeper Chris Sanna, who this week signed a new contract that will keep him at the club next season, will be bidding to keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet and victory would keep the Bay second in the table - four points clear of third-placed Halifax who dropped points in a midweek draw at Mossley.
The Seagulls will be without Neil Black, Tom McGill and Danny Grannon, who all have work related commitments, while Stuart Graves will need a late fitness test on a thigh injury, but Anthony Lynch and James Olsen have declared themselves fit after shaking off slight muscle strains.
Bamber Bridge have former Bay favourite Steve Aspinall in their ranks and will have been boosted by the midweek win which ended a run of five consecutive league defeats - although they were all against top four sides (Halifax twice, Lancaster and Skelmersdale).
They will have a new signing in their squad in ex-Grimsby and Barrow striker Chris Thompson who has been signed this week from Leigh Genesis.
Colwyn Bay: (from) Sanna, Denson, Lynch, Brandreth, Challinor, Sheehan, Sheridan, Kelly, Titchiner, Stones, Williams, Meadowcroft, Headley, Olsen, Graves, Ablett.
