Seagulls aim for six point Easter
COLWYN BAY hope to make it a six-point Easter at home to Woodley Sports on Monday (April 5) in what could be another big day in the Seagulls' bid to cement a place in the play-offs
Two of their main rivals (Skelmersdale and Leigh Genesis) play each other, so the Seagulls have the chance to increase the gap on at least one of them - providing they can secure a second win in four days and retain third place in the table.
Although there are a few bumps and bruises to clear up, manager Neil Young doesn't expect too many changes from the side that won 1-0 at Prescot on Good Friday, although Adriano Rigoglioso could possibly return to the starting line-up following ankle and calf injuries and Tim Brandreth is also added to the squad again after recovering from a knee injury.
Jimmy Kelly (knee) is not 100 per cent fit yet and loan striker Alex Titchiner is still not quite ready after an ankle injury, although I understand the Crewe physios think he should be ready for next Saturday's huge game at fourth-placed Curzon Ashton.
"Two wins on the bounce over Easter would take a lot of pressure off us ahead of next Saturday's game, but we can't afford to rest on our laurels because Woodley are a capable young side, despite their poor away record (one win in their 18 away games in the league this season)," said Neil.
" We need to be on our guard against them, but if we show the same hard work and passion that we did at Prescot then we can be a force for anyone."
Colwyn Bay will want to avenge the 3-0 defeat on Woodley's artificial pitch in February which kicked off a dreadful run of seven defeats in 10 games - but Neil Young will be hoping his side have turned the corner with that Good Friday performance.
However, it is worth noting that Woodley have lost only three of the 12 games they've played since that win over the Seagulls.
