Double injury blow for big game
AS feared, Colwyn Bay will be without defender Frank Sinclair and goalkeeper Chris Sanna for Saturday's big home game against Halifax.
Sinclair, who has played a major part in the side going seven games unbeaten since he signed in early January, is currently having treatment at Wrexham for a hamstring strain and is expected to be out for 10 days, but Sanna looks more serious and could be sidelined for up to three weeks with a recurrence of his shoulder ligament injury.
Player-boss Jon Newby's efforts to get Jack Cudworth back on loan from Macclesfield have been unsuccessful, so Andy Metcalf will play on Saturday.
"Andy has never let us down. He is a better keeper since he has been in America and has been training full-time with Wrexham so he is ready for the challenge," said Newby.
John McKenna looks set to play in the back four alongside Matty Hughes, although Danny Meadowcroft will be in the squad again as his baby daughter Evie's condition is improving in hospital.
Frazer McLachlan, who missed Tuesday's 3-2 win over Boston due to work commitments, will return to the side - although the player-manager admitted that will mean a huge decision over who to leave out.
"This will be one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make," he said. "None of the lads that played on Tuesday deserve to be left out, but against a side of Halifax's quality we simply can't afford to be as open as we were against Boston and we need Frazer back in there sitting in front of the back four.
"Obviously it is going to be a very tough game. They (Halifax) have got quality all over the field, but if we show the same character we did in the second half on Tuesday then we will give ourselves a chance."
Halifax have this week signed striker Jamie Rainford on a permanent deal from Chester and he will be in their squad.
He scored six goals in nine appearances during two months on loan earlier in the season and Halifax manager Neil Aspin says he is delighted to have got him back as the Shaymen look to consolidate their top four position.
The Yorkshiremen, who have merged as strong promotion contenders and are expecting to bring a big following after having their last three league games fall victim to the weather, are unbeaten in their last eight league games which have included seven wins on the trot - four of those away from home.
They did, however, lose 1-0 at Guiseley in the West Riding Cup in their last game on February 1 when they fielded a much weakened team, and they have not won any of their last five meetings with Colwyn Bay (three draws and two Colwyn Bay wins).
