I love councillors.
To be fair, some are great, always helpful and a good starting point as a genuine source of information. More importantly, many have the best of intentions and often serve their community thanklessly, and often for many years.
But then there's the other breed - community, town and county councillors who think they're untouchable. Councillors who've quite often been around since the Jurassic period, or at the very least since before I was born - and I'm no longer a spring chicken!

The Weekly News today launches a new campaign supporting small businesses in Conwy county.
From April 1, the Assembly replaced Rural Rate Relief (RRR) with the new Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) scheme. Up until then, all businesses in Conwy with a rateable value of less than £6,000 could apply for relief of up to 50%. Whether they applied or not was up to them.

PROBABLY the best thing about being a reporter on a local newspaper is that we are given real freedom to write, investigate or promote something of a worthwhile cause which is close to our hearts.
I’m not saying we get to plug anything we like, because we don’t, so if any beauty therapists, mobile reflexologists or newly-founded herbal pro-biotic wonder diet companies are reading this - we really don’t!
