A newspaper of interest to people of all ages

READERS are taken from the cradle to the grave in this week’s edition of the Weekly News with stories ranging from the tragic to the inspiring.
Our team of reporters have produced exclusives from across the region - breaking a school closure in Llandudno and revealing fears about a future shortage of burial places in the market town of Llanrwst.

In Colwyn Bay readers will be inspired by brave bride Tija Tanner who has defied doctors’ predictions to wed sweetheart Gareth Owen despite suffering from terminal spinal cancer.
In Llandudno we featured the birth of premature twins Kayla and Chanelle, who came into the world weighing just three and a half pounds with the help of paramedics in an emergency birth at home.
Sadly the town was rocked by tragedy with the double death of a popular local couple, who were found hanging in their home by relatives on Friday.
The paper also exclusively revealed that Ysgol Y Wyddfid on the Great Orme was facing closure by the local authority - news that has left parents incensed.
In Conwy yobs have again targeted the town’s oldest house, with the medieval Aberconwy House vandalised by drunks. Despite being an unique historic attraction in the walled town yobs seems to think its leaded windows are fair game.
The most sickening tale of the week and surely of the year so far came from Old Colwyn with a community left stunned by the brutal slaughter of a defenceless lamb by a group of youngsters. Even in our experienced newsroom there was genuine shock at the nature of the attack.
There was a heart warming story from Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan with news that former tramp John - Shiny Shoes - Evans was alive and well in Birkenhead.
John had been a popular figure in the villages when he was living on the streets but disappeared suddenly just before Christmas 2006.
Thankfully he has now been traced to Port Sunlight, where he is living with his sister. He wished to thank the two communities for their support.
Up the Conwy Valley we revealed an application that could create 20 jobs in Cerrigydrudion with the expansion of a hotel and the building of 25 log cabins.
As is typical with most developments there was opposition despite the fact it will bring jobs and extra tourists to an area struggling to provide work for its young people and keep them in the community.
